The Russell Township Trustees Donate Retired Ambulance To The VEG-AIU.
At the recommendation of Russell Fire Chief John Frazier
October-19-2010
Russell Township, Ohio- At the recommendation of The Russell Township Fire Department Chief John Frazier, Russell Trustees, James Mueller, James Dickinson and Christina Port have generously donated the recently retired 1990 Ford F-450 Ambulance to the Valley Enforcement Group - Accident Investigation Unit.
This vehicle has been very well maintained since its original purchase and has been given a clean bill of health to continue its faithful service as a municiple vehicle. The Valley Enforcement Group Police Chiefs have gladly excepted this donation.
The squad is currently undergoing a retrofit program to better meet the needs of the AIU. Soon team members will have immediate access to computer imaging and digital photographs. We expect to see an instant improvement in the overall quality and a significant increase in our effieciency. In short, we will have a better final product in much less time.
Basically, this translates to shorter road closures and less time police officers are tied up on an accident scene. When we began our service in 2004, we were seeing road closures from 5-7 hours. While every accident scene brings different challenges, we generally expect to see those times cut by more than 50%.
"We thank Chief Frazier and the Trustees. Without this generous donation from Russell Township, this would never be possible."
