Welcome to The VEG - AIU

The Chagrin Valley Enforcement Group is a Regional Cooperation of 14 Police Agencies.

The Chagrin Valley is located on the south east side of Cleveland, Ohio. There are presently 14 police agencies belonging to the Valley Enforcement Group "VEG." The coverage starts at The City of Warrensville Heights in Cuyahoga County and stretches all the way east to The City of Chardon in Geauga County. This is an area of well over 130 square miles.

In 2004 The VEG introduced a highly trained Accident Investigation Unit. This team responds to VEG police departments requesting assistance with Serious Traffic Accidents involving Fatalities or where Fatalities may occur. We also may respond in cases of serious injuries where a higher level of expertise may be required.
Experience.
The VEG-AIU responds to an average of 12-15 call-outs each year. As of 2011 we have responded to over 82 call-outs since our formation. We have currently investigated 31 fatalities.

Education.

Of the 10 current AIU team members all but 2 are Traffic Crash Reconstructionists. We attend continious advanced training every year. Officers are specially trained in the more difficult fields of Motorcycles, Commercial Vehicles, Bicycles and Pedestrian impacts.

Reliable.

The AIU rapidly responds to a qualified call for service and is generally on the scene within 45 minutes of the request.
The team then frees the requesting agency so that they can resume their duties of protecting their towns while the investigation is completed.

Team members also respond to any and all required court appearances related to the crash.
